I didn't say that. If they were running out of time they should have approached the desk and made themselves known to the staff. Many PAX do not have the confidence to do this though.
The only point I was trying to make is that ground staff (in this case Serviceair, FR do not use their own staff on the ground in LPL) should have thought more carefully and maybe used the phrase "Any more for Las Palmas or Gran Canaria?" or something along those lines.
I have been quite surprised by some of the comments here. I still don't know why people think Joe Public would know anything about "Las Palmas" when they have booked a flight to "Gran Canaria" especially if they have not been there before.
I am sure we can agree to differ anyway
