Michael O'Leary is quoted as saying that they don't normally like to pay landing fees, but in MANs case they have had to (probably not true - he is just trying to set the expectations of other airports for future negotiations). It doesn't really matter. You can be sure that he will be getting a deal at MAN that is beneficial to FR. Remember there was talk of 80 aircraft lying idle over the Winter. If there is any way MO'L can get some of them in the air even generating a little profit he will do so. It is also good PR for FR to be in MAN because it is one of the largest airports in the UK and serves a big business community. I would expect the new routes to be medium haul holiday destinations (e.g. Canaries) and business routes for the Winter with the emphasis switching to short haul holiday routes in the Summer.
