Yes there is "no fly" period, In fact to my understanding from a conversation with my friend who got lasik in 2008, Once the lasik is done, you may consider your medical lapsed, and need to get your Class one renewed if you wish to fly, not sure why he said that but i predict it is because in the medical hand book there are some clauses related to Surgeries and rest periods with medical previlages, maybe any of them got violated .

Also note that after you surgery, your medical (renewal/initial) would only be done at any of the 3 initial centers(IAM/AFCME/5 airforce jorhat) & Not from any regional renewal center. Also he hinted that you may need some additional test related to eye, and for him it was an routine renewal and just an additional test to be done from outside (if you already got those test done prior, u may get the medical done the same day).

The rest period I guess is solely your discretion because for every individual it varies in time to recover. and the doctor who operated shall be able to determine a time more appropriate than any one else along with how you feel because i don't think though you read, when he looks inside your eye you cannot get carried away if you got glare .

Well my friend hasn't informed the medical authorities but he said that, the IAM doctor(Eye specialist) personally yelled at him for not consulting them before the surgery but they didn't objected him, in any manned while issuing the certificate. So it is Strongly Recommended to consult the Medical Authorities while informing DGCA before the surgery. These days, not sure about IAF but the masons (DGCA) always curious to build a wall (issue) between you and your licence, If there are too many walls you may eventually need a dynamite So consider the risk.

Hope this helps
Cheers
