If you want to pursue a career as a pilot my recommendation is to go for a full package all the way to getting 300-500h jet/turboprop or you will find yourself at the bottom of the ladder competing with those who have.
In the US you can work as an instructor and also in the RH seat for a commuter up to 3 years. All done while you do a JAA conversation.
After that you can get your seat at eastjet, ryanair etc to build your experience.
If you, on the other hand, want to be a bush pilot it's a different story and you can go down to africa to fly C-206/7/8 etc.
