My comment was in relation to one of the flightcrew that got right "royally" shafted when J2 closed the Stansted base. Even though he was type rated...TWE didn't want him...obviously his type rating was good enough for B.A though
And the Company is mature, not a new boy on the block as you state...read/investigate the history of Dart group and its origins from a north London car park flogging 2CV's to BMW 3 series on the Fulham Rd to Regional Airways...onto Twin Otters from Cardiff...Furniture Vans stuffed with flowers from Bournemouth up to Covent Garden...The movement of a Herald airframe with no engines to start up the Channel Islands air cargo routes....It all has one common thread...A business man who uses the same modus operandi of a second hand car salesman...and that is not a knock at PM...because it works...Its just that some costs he can control..i.e you, others he can't Fuel...He can hedge all he wants....Have fuel tables for crews and special planning procedures..but at the end of the day...the gas guzzling classics will have to make way for next gen technology and that will cost you big time...If your happy with your T+C's great...but they saw you coming and always will and that attitude won't change which is why the turnover of crew continues...Just remember when Human Remains pro-actively engages with you..... you're a cost not an asset !
