I spent the summer of 2008 working in Lille and used my aircraft to commute from the UK, it is a very good setup for GA.

ATC is very helpfull but usualy expect you to use the VFR reporting points if the airfield has IFR traffic.

With an ILS on one end and VOR or GPS approaches on the other it is well equiped if the weather is not good, but over the whole summer I only had to do three approches "to limits" due weather (one ILS & one GPS in my aircraft) and then at the start October the fog started to be a problem and I had to do what is to date my only CAT3B no DH autoland.

Just one thing to remember after you park you may have to phone the GA people as they are usualy in the main terminal, there is a phone on the outside of the GA terminal.

As you might expect Lille town has some very good eating, you can get about on the driverless metro but make sure that you buy a ticket..... there are spot checks! A bus runs about once an hour from the airport to the Eurostar station and the metro is a short walk away in the main railway station. I won't list the good restauants as it would take about three pages
but for local cooking there is a place by the railway station that brews its own beer that is worth a looking at.
