Its not that hard to make money on transatlantics from BHX. BA did it succesfully for many years by sticking a 767 on the route and stuffing it chock full of cargo from the big local manufacturers. Soon as they swapped a 757 on the route the cargo capacity dwindled as did the revenue. Incidentally somebody once told me that BA makes more money per kg from cargo than pax!
