As usual a lot of slagging off about Qatar, this time the acquisition of the A380 aircraft. To make matters worse, naming individuals & questing if they are lying or not. This on top of spelling their names incorrectly.

Maybe you all need a lesson in aircraft acquisition & the process. You start with a agreement for the aircraft & then a long process take place during which you agree specifications with the manufacturer and / or lease company about what equipment is to be installed on you aircraft: - Avionics fit, engines, APU, wheels / brakes, cabin config / safety equipment, galleys and the list goes on.

There are also a lot of issues on what routes you want to operate the aircraft, performance, cargo capability, fuel burn guarantees etc. You also have to see if your destination airports will be able to handle an aircraft of the A380’s size in this case.

While all this is going on hopefully the airline engineering department is trying to get the best deal on support from the various vendors to help decide what to fit & confirm they will be able to supply the equipment to meet the delivery schedule. Not until all the homework has been done do you go firm & sign up.

Just because the manufacturer has a nice shiny new toy does not mean you commit until you do the full research, which is what is happening here.

Just the same as buying a house. You put an offer "subject to contract", so you can get a survey & all searches carried out.

I only look at the ME forum as I was thinking of moving out that direction. All that seems to be on is a continual bashing of anything remotely linked to Qatar.

If you have had a bad time or problems with an employer you can always move on. No one is forcing you to stay. Once you have moved on stay moved on & don't keep bitching or having digs about something no one wants to hear about.
