What after fATPL?

Hi All,

I'm currently studying for a degree in Transportation at the University of Ulster with a specialism in aviation. I'm forming a plan, upon graduation in 2015, to become a commerical pilot.

I'm from a middle class family so no golden honey pot from which to take six figure payouts so I looked first at cadetships, namely Cathay and Etihad. The former seems to have less than degrading T/Cs and Etihad seems to have shut up shop for now. Is there a likelyhood that these will resume toward the next four years for other airlines also?

I was about to give up, when I saw this course in the US which seems to be a fairly reputable establishment:
Euro American School of Aviation - Airline Pilot Program

My placement salary should be able to pay for a large chunk of this along with a bit of saving up. After this, what is needed to make myself 'marketable'?

Do nearly all jobs now require a self-sponsored type rating?
How much would this cost?
Will this situation change towards 2015?

I know a lot of this may be conjecture and it's not as if everyone has a crystal ball to look into but I'm very grateful for any help - I feel a bit lost!
