Sad news on Ryanair Base Crush in Alicante
Cutting all but 2 planes in Alicante from Nov 2011?
Really one of the best Ryanair bases for crews and I am sure it must have done well commercially.
I suspect that Ryanair has left it too late to do a deal. Ryanair seem to have no one in place to do their business in Spain.
AENA will not react to Ryanair threats - they are bigger than Ryanair.
Passengers will now immediately start booking flights for this summer with any carrier except Ryanair. Even on these forums people already think it is immediate. So Ryanair will lose yield and business right now. That in turn will weaken the overall case for Alicante.
Ryanair will struggle to find other profitable places to put the planes. Cut Alicante over a bodged deal on airbridges.
The good routes which have been built up by Ryanair crews over the years will quickly be picked up by competitors - all for a lack of management.
Staff will now not trust being in any base. If they crush MRS, ALC, GRO and crush HHN and others - no where is safe. That was the key for many people in the past - but I think no staff can now settle anywhere.
