Which day did you come back on? There have been a few recently which have been more than "a normal blustery day".
A fair few years since I've been involved in operating air bridges, but we always had to operate within the manufacturers limits, which isn't "over rediculous health & safety" when operating heavy machinery. Always good to have a plan B, tho
