Kind and Knowledgeable Ppruners,
This is somewhat a variation on a theme, but obviously as my personal situation is clearly the most important thing to have happened in the history of aviation I thought I'd start a new thread...
I am in the fortunate position to have been made a once in a lifetime job offer flying a shiny new gulfstream, providing that I am able to convert to FAA (Shiny jet is American Reg) and get rated on it by the middle of May. I will probably never get an opportunity like this again so obviously I am willing to move heaven and earth to get this done.
To the best of my knowledge these are the steps I need to take:
1) FAA Verification of a foreign license
2) M1 Training Visa
3) Flight Training in Florida
4) Initial Type Rating
By my calculations this should take between 10 - 12 weeks, slightly too long. Is there anyway I can streamline this process?
For example could I attain the Type Rating on my JAA license in the US using the Visa Waiver while I wait for steps 1 & 2? Can I get the M1 training visa issued in the US rather than at the US embassy in London? If not, can I do the TR in the UK and then convert to the FAA license once I get that and where?
Any suggestions/information would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.
