The work at the 27 end of the main runway--which has the displaced threshold--is as far as I recall going to be a massive "dig" to allow the full length to be used. The ground round the 27 end is considerably higher than the runway and I think the civil work, along with road diversions, is going to take the surrounding land down to runway level or thereabouts.
At the 09 end the solution is somewhat more straightforeward, the removal of a house/kennel business, to which I think agreement had been reached.
Whether or not this work has actually started, I dont know. Finance?
