My my its quiet around here....
Well apart from the otherwise thrilling news that SI are to introduce a £200 return JER-LCY service; I noticed earlier today that BA have re-timed the LGW schedule slightly for Summer '11:
The aircraft operating the 0700 BA8034 departure from JER no longer returns as the BA8033 from LGW to operate a 1015(ish) BA8036 JER-LGW.
Instead the BA8034 will operate at its normal time, however the BA8033 will now operate (on a different aircraft) at 0720 from LGW allowing an early morning arrival into the island. Therefore the morning schedule is as follows:
BA8034 0705 JER 0750 LGW
BA8033 0720 LGW 0815 JER
BA8036 0855 JER 0945 LGW.
There is no longer a mid morning rotation, with the next flight being the lunch time 8037/8038 service.
It seems quite a smart move by BA, they trialled the early LGW-JER service in Summer 10, taking the route up to 6 x daily, however the three morning flights were overkill and the loads suffered.
By offering the early LGW-JER they seem to be able to compete with BE and their early LGW-JER, yet keep the loads sufficiently high by operating the same number of flights as before. What do we think?
