BASSA collect £1.5million+ in subs from circa 10,000 members
A fixed proportion of the individual members subs are passed on to UNITE and also to their political fund, unless the member has opted out of this. There is no clear indication as to how much BASSA retains and that is something that needs clarifying. I think that the General Secretary of BASSA personally retains the 5% but the branch finances are more difficult to delve into due to a complete lack of verified accounts.
I do think that members are entitled to more detail of where their subs are going and how they are being applied.
