but there is going to come a time where the A320/B737 series aircraft are just simply too small for LHR, especially on trunk routes like LHR-MAD which it is likely to become.
Then what needs to happen is a program to consolidate operations on bigger aircraft like the B757 / B767 and move the smaller aircraft, say B737-400s to Gatwick. That will work well IMHO. Unless we completely change the business model when we realise it's not working at all and order 100+ smaller aircraft from a rival, say A319 / A320s with a few A321s. Frequency wins over capacity until someone new says "hey lets try capacity over frequency.

Has no one thought of trying this? It's a winner! Oh wait...I'll get my coat!
