As Mil but Blunty engineer, I am probably (okay definitely!) on the wrong side of the fence to give an unbiased view as to whether this should be a closed forum to Mil Aircrew! Besides, this is argued every few months anyway. For the record though, this being a forum entitled 'Military Aircrew', I could hardly object if it was closed...
To the point of wannabees though, the RAF might seem a cliquey slightly arrogant organisation to outsiders (It did to me until I joined and became part of that!). Banning wannabee postings doesn't really help the cause, even though I know this is not a recruiting site. However, PPrune is one of the only places guys with no mil contacts can get the no BS version of events. Most of the wannabees who do post (with a few exceptions!) are the more astute, self-reliant types who surely should be encouraged, not slated?
It might help though if it was possible to have a dedicated thread on the Mil forum 'Wannabees Post Here', that could be made to stay somewhere near the top...
