Due to a 'last minute change of the rules' by the Government, the grant which BHX and the Council hoped would complete the Finance package for the Runway Extension will not now be forthcoming.
Much more urgent requirements mean that the two requests submitted jointly by Birmingham & Solihull Councils will now be for the car maker JLR and the Football Association's National Football Centre at Burton on Trent.
JLR is owned by Tata which is the biggest company in India and Burton on Trent is 25 miles away from Birmingham.
