OK

I am listening, or is it watching.
Good points all.

Professional Pilots Rumour Networks genesis, raison d^etre or whatever you want to call it was as a Forum for sharing Rumour and News amongst Professional Pilots especially in the context of those working in RPT.

The Professional Pilots Rumour Network (PPRuNe) is a website dedicated to professional pilots and those who are considering a career as a pilot. The main focal point is the The Bulletin Board where there are over 70 forums.

Air Traffic Controllers, Engineers, Cabin Crew, Operations, Crewing and Rostering staff are also welcome as well as anybody else with a connection or interest in professional aviation.

PPRuNe was originally set up by Danny Fyne, an airline pilot with a background in computers, as a focal point for other pilots and Wannabes with access to the World Wide Web.

Since late 1995 PPRuNe has grown from a small, manually updated message board into a multi forum, fully automated bulletin board with over 13 million page views a month.

Internationally renowned as a source of news and rumours, PPRuNe is now one of the most widely read sites for pilots and airline management.

Although most contributors to PPRuNe prefer to remain anonymous, many regular 'PPRuNers are senior pilots, managers and trainers with the major airlines of the world as well as with Air Traffic Services and ancillary professions.

We aim to keep PPRuNe as simple to use and without too many graphics to keep download times as fast as possible.
PPRuNe like the rest of the world is changing faster than we know, and we are trying to change with it, but at the same time stay relevant with our core audience, ie Professional Pilots while yet as Professional Pilots and in the process of sharing Rumour and News help each other and those who either aspire to or have had their careers disrupted by the vicissitudes of life.

It is also the victim of it's own success and as a result has more Forums than we ever dreamed of in an attempt to accomodate the many different agendas.

Keeping the signal to noise ratio to a reasonable level for us all to be able to access quickly only those matters of interest to us as individuals is the always the ultimate aim. If you have the time then you can run down those other matters that have a specific interest to you.

Keeping it relevant is the objective.

It is NOT a matter of denigration or perpetuation of bulls hit, if it was, we would moderate out altogether anything not directly related to Airlines et al.

E.G.
A matter of concern to a budding pilot in regard to say, the cost of his instruction may not be of any real interest to most airline pilots, anymore than matters of concern for a rostering system is of any real interest to most budding pilots.
They both may hold views on the respective matters, but are they relevant.
Neither may wish to wade through countless threads to find the one that concerns them, matters in which they are interested are available in other specific forums for when they have the time.

So as a result of the huge growth in membership and to keep the various Forums focussed and relevant on their respective topics we have decided to split them, as was found necssary for Rumour and News.
Users of R & N and associated forums have benefited therefrom and would not have it any other way.

We'll monitor it for a bit more, make some judgement calls and adjustments as we see fit.

Just remember this is all VOLUNTARY and FREE so cut us some slack.
