Decided to spend a few minutes on the Black Armor, and found myself back on the screen that showed $14.95 per question. Well away from that offensive message was some small print which said if I was registered, I had a free support period.
Obviously small print to save them being troubled, because when I rang it, I listened to the dumbest tune imaginable, for 40 mins. When the guy did answer, he was not what I really needed. I needed calm, not Stressed Eric. Anyway, he assured me I didn't need it listed in Devices. "Windows might want to, but it won't make any difference."
So why does their website give the non-working download?
We found insufficient data in a file that indicated a full backup had not taken place. He told me to start another backup, gave me a case number, and departed. In moments, the new backup had ceased. But now, there was 5.9Gigs in the folder. The hour or so it took the first backup, had put the data there, but the second procedure seemed to bring it to the fore.
You can see what I mean about it all being so fuzzy as to be useless...well, unsafe.
In the meantime, I find my Explorer is not working. Start their software, and it fails. Okay after reboot. But get this: Other Shortcuts to Explorer, with differing start points, all work. Same .exe file, just the start point.
"That's a Windows problem...we don't get involved with those."
No amount of protesting that it's fine until I start the Seagate soft, had any affect. My, oh my.
