If another Middle east carrier is comming to BHX, my bets are on Qatar Airways.
They have a route to ATQ which will help the figures, and although its been a fair while since they introduced a UK route, they have always seemed to be the fore-runner in most rumours of new routes.
Etihad, in my opinion, seem too entrenched at LHR/MAN, and dont really seem to want to expand further than that. They even cut LGW once more slots became free at LHR, wheras Qatar stayed at LGW.
We must remember though, a new Middle eastern carrier will be good for BHX, but at what other carriers expense? Mahan air came back to BHX as there was too much competition at MAN, and I wonder if Turkmenistan could hold up the fight? And could Armavia compete with just 2 weekly flights?
Im sure if Qatar/Etihad came to fruitition, we would find out.
Then again, who says its them two? It could be saudi, Kuwait, Oman, EL AL, Syrian, Royal Jordanian, or, anyone really!
