BA last night (25 Nov) flew Heathrow-Newcastle, when they got up there a preceding aircraft had just overrun, so they diverted - back to Heathrow.
Now I am sure that to the ops team it is most convenient for them to have their alternate (presumably preplanned) back at base again, rather than going into Teesside or Edinburgh, as others apparently did, and coaching the pax onwards. But does nobody understand that the whole point of an airline in the first place is to provide a service to the paying passengers, which includes a Best Endeavours to get them to where they have paid to go ? Isn't that what it's all about ?
