Supposedly....

Jet2.com & DHL were to 'crew share' for this winter. The bones of this arrangement was that Jet2.com wanted to send the crews whose contracts were finishing at the end of October & the 70%'ers to DHL, LEI based, for the winter & take 5 Capts & 5 F/O's into Jet2, EMA based, for S11.

The financial arrangements were Jet2 would pay 70% salary to their volunteers & DHL would 'Top- Up' to 100% Jet2 salary, an increase of about £1000/ month after tax, out of which the volunteers would have to find accom. in LEI & travel costs to/from LEI.

In a nutshell, Jet2 wanted the 'late joiners' to sacrifice their 5 months winter 70% paid leave, commute to/from Leipzig, live in Leipzig, for an extra £1000/month, without ANY of the roster protection & financial gain of the deal offered by Contractair, while not having to recruit, promote or transfer 5 Capts & F/O's for EMA. The ignorance of the 'orchestrators' of this arrangement is dazzling. One MAN-based Captain managed to beat the system by taking an 80% 'Winter off' deal from Jet2 & taking the deal from Contractair before they pulled it.

Also, apparently a couple of the 70%'ers & 100%-Fixed Term Contractors wanted an early release (end of Sept) to crew a Haj contracted operation for a Turkish firm but the CP & DFO said 'No! We can't spare you!' Despite the Fleet Manager, Rosterers & Crewers all saying they could spare the 2 Crews!

It's all gone very quiet now... apart from the usual whisperings of people going to Emirates... Etihad... Qatar... FlyDubai, Open Skies... Singapore Cargo... Cathy Cargo... EasyJet... Ryanair... and since the weekend BA!!

Will the last person to leave, please turn out the lights!
