There is work here, but you're not going to be living in Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal with 200 hours. You're going to be living in Pickle Lake, Rankin Inlet, Yellowknife or somewhere like that for up to two years loading airplanes where you may be lucky to get onto a Twin Otter or Caravan or something similar - and thats if you have an excellent work ethic and a better command of English than the locals.
Unlike Europe you would have to be very, very, stupidly lucky to start on a Falcon or something similar. Canada does not yet share the European love (or need) for throwing new CPL holders into jets.
Additionally, we have more than our share of guys out of work, back working de-ice pads or the local hardware store because they cannot find a job - many of whom are getting direct entry gigs into northern operators because they fill the requirements laid down by clients - and this is a step back for a guy who up until 6 months ago may have been flying A320's or similiar.
