Hi - wondering what the going rate is for a B747 Classic Captain / FO / FE?
Salary / houseing / commuting etc.
Where?
What a pilot gets paid depends on his or her seniority (time with the company and time in a particular position (Captain, F/O, FE, etc). The type of flying one does has a bearing on what one gets paid. Obviously the company for whom one is flying makes a big difference.
Here are a few examples. They may not be entirely accurate:

The operator for whom I fly provides no housing, and the "commute" is simply from home to where ever the airplane is at the time. The company pays for that, and the typical trip lasts 17 days, sometimes a little more. Per diem is provided.
Our pay is based on a monthly guarantee, with additional pay being if one flies more. If one flies on days off, one makes the hourly rate, plus time and a half. The hourly rate varies with the assignment and number of years with the company (seniority).
