Given the number of injuries resulting from a safety-critical system anomaly (a couple of broken bones and some serious bruises at Learmonth), compared with the number of fatal accidents in which advisory systems have been causal factors (Cali 1995, Überlingen 2002, Amazonas 2006, Schiphol 2009 just off the top of my head, and a bunch of incidents that could well have been fatal, including Air Transat's Azores visit, and BMA's Addis adventure), one cannot dismiss the possible safety consequences so blithely. I take it my invitation to
think what would happen was declined?
