For what it's worth, as I read the report, they didn't actually detect fresh water in the sensors. Instead, they recreated how rinse water could have entered them, then proved that if that happened, it would freeze at altitude. Why they wrote "fresh water" and not just "water" is beyond me. Unless it had something to do with the report being translated from French (assuming it was).
