I had 120 hrs and yes, doesn't make a sod of difference for the writtens. Instrument stuff helps, but really a keen background interest in flying will save a lot of hassle at basic stages.
Flying hours only really helps when you get to the flying stages - not too many tho, as you end up struggling to iron-out any bad habits you've taught yourself!
