What an interesting photo. Initially I thought it was from the 1930s, but then I spotted the Connie lurking in the background. The second aircraft from the left seems to me to have a French appearance, so I'll start things off by guessing the aerodrome is in France.
On second thoughts, there appear to be palm trees in the picture, so maybe North Africa or possibly closer to home for me, in Indochina.
