Steve Noujaim is set to depart Southend Airport at about 04:30z 31st August 2010 in his RV-7 G-IIXF, in an attempt to break Alex Henshaw's record (London - Cape Town - London) which
technically still stands, although it has been bettered in the '
wrong' direction. See
The Cape Challenge, flight record bid
At the same time, Steve will be attempting to break the record set by Chalkie Stobbart between Cape Town and London. The Stobbart Challenge is for a return trip, in either direction, between Cape Town and London. The record now stands at 3 days 15 hours and 17 minutes for a solo flight in the C-1b class of the FAI.
