Yes, some were referred to other "specialists" for treatment. Like any town, there are specialists here with good reputations, qualifications, training and experience, who charge a lot, and "specialists" whose cred is not so good, who charge a little less. Guess which ones EK will pay for?
Hint: think of ANYTHING else EK pays for where they have a choice between the top of the range and the bottom.
If they farm out your treatment for something serious, you can expect to be operated on by someone like Dr. Nick Riviera.
As for why the admin guy gets to ask you what's wrong with you when you call for an appointment, I know why they maintain this policy (tightfistedness) and it is still an unacceptable practice. The doctor/patient privilege is a cornerstone of modern medical practice in any civilised part of the world. Not so here because they are too cheap to pay for enough staff to operate (properly) the clinic they boast and BS about to prospective new-joiners.
It sounds like you're in the know. Why not ask your friends there about the PS situation. Maybe they lift their game for wives of pilots but for the CC, it (I'm informed) a different story which is not followed in most places the girls come from.
But, the care we have received has been excellent.
Yes, for run-of-the-mill cases it is usually sufficient. But any
serious medical condition???
