Did you ever hold an old Lifetime PPL? If so, "they" will give you an updated one for free on the basis of your currrent ATPL, which would then not need to be renewed.
The 'lifetime' PPLs (and all other national licences) are only valid until 8 April 2012 by which time they will have to be converted to the JAA equivalent. After April 2012 only licences issued in accordance with EASA Part FCL (which includes JAA licences) will be valid.
