Netscape v IE & ValueClick

When browsing PPRuNe using Netscape, the task bar indicates information being sent to or downloaded from valueclick.com. When browsing PPRuNe using IE6 I never nnotice a similar message.

My questions:

1. Does Netscape 6.2 (as downloaded from the net) come bundled with software that reports my viewing back to some party, such as valueclick?
2. If then answer to Q1 is yes, can the reporting be turned off?
3. Does IE6 do similar stuff?
