Well of course you are looking forward to the replies. A fisherman doesn't bait the hook without eager anticipation of what will bite. The premise of your post is somewhat strange though. If you join a professional pilots website it must surely be in the expectation that the site will be largely populated by professional pilots. Simply signing up to slag off the target group isn't likely to be very productive. I appreciate that many answers to questions, or comments to observations can be curt, exasperated, sarcastic, rude or just plainly impolite on many occaissions, but that is simply the nature of the beast. Internet forums are often like that, and anonymous ones even more so.

Given that all the contributors are anonymous how would you possibly know "whose ship" you were flying in, or indeed ever had? Given that you seem to have survived those experiences to date, presumably you have a lifetime of safe and professional flight experiences. If the surgeon who operates on me, or a doctor who treats an illness, or anybody else who facilitates some other aspect of my life and wellbeing, does so in a professional manner, then frankly I couldn't care less how grumpy they are in their private lives or indeed on internet bulletin boards!

So next time you are pushing back, consider for a moment the "SLF" that is wondering why flap deployment is maybe a little late (relieved all the same) and laughing at passengers who can hear the PTU, thinking someone is hacksawing through the fuselage.
I a mean how patronising is that? Do you not think that almost everything we do isn't geared in some way to the safety, comfort and efficiency of our passengers? Barely a day goes by that myself and virtually every one of my colleagues around the world doesn't spend a significant portion of our duty day planning and searching routes, speeds and flight levels that will give our passengers the safest and most comfortable journey possible.

We passengers are not all as stupid as you think.
Is that what we think? Few passengers are pilots, but all pilots are passengers! We weren't hatched into this role. We travel regularly as part of our duty, as passengers. We travel on vacations and business around the world. We understand the frustrations, annoyances, irritations and tedium that is often an intrinsic part of travel. We take our families on flights and know how frustrating delays and lack of information can be with impatient, bored and fractious children in tow. Just like you, we put our trousers on one leg at a time in the morning, so why do you think we are somehow oblivious to the realities that our passengers face? I really don't know!

my reply is

"These are the people I never want to fly with"
Whatever you may want, you are simply never going to know, so what is the point of the statement? I am sure the flip side of that mythical coin, is there are probably passengers who if we knew anything of their background we wouldn't want to fly either. However we don't, so it is fleetingly academic.

Has somebody been rude to you?
