I have not heard anything other than there will no AI hub as per the recent various press releases but hope is still there for a terminator service although there is no indication from Air India at all. Although for any airline it won't be easy as Air India tend to route in from Delhi and I don't believe the other possible airlines (Jet/Kingfisher) have a long-haul bases at Amritsar.
No disrespect to Mahan Air but if they can get 4000-5000 pax per month to go via Tehran then I think there must be demand.

Although still not released, per the Cork thread it is expected that Aer Arann
will take over the service this winter probably double daily, which could be worse I suppose. Last summer there was too little capacity and last winter too much but 2 x AT7 sounds a much better prospect.
