Arrow converting to JAA licence.......HELP!

Help me...I want to go home!
I am currently the proud holder of a brand new South African commercial licence. The problem is, I'm a UK citizen and now want to go home and earn money flying.
After speaking to approved training organisations in the UK, they say "give me 15000 quid and it won't be a problem".
15000 quid IS a problem!
Unfortunately the JAA have not yet got their act together on a number of issues - the one that irks me is licence conversions.
It used to be possible to convert easily to an Irish licence which was then directly transferrable with a JAR licence - unfortunately this loophole is no more.
Does anyone know a similar or better way to convert? After all, I have all the hour requirements of JAR and have been trained to an equal standard.
If anyone can help or advise or even just commiserate then please do!
