Here is the real story

411A:A few errors in the original.
For example, the SVA aircraft quoted was not an SVA aircraft, it was a sub-service contractor.

The rest of this story.
This engine on HS-VAC had been written up many times for vibrations and severe overheating.
One flight had a bleed air leak so bad it burnt a hole in the cowling a few weeks earlier, JED/CAI/JED
They could not get a 3 engine ferry permit from JED/CGK from Saudia or Thai DGCA.
Maint signed this one off as OK with full Saudia Airlines approval for flight to CGK.
Flight departed with basic crew and flight attendants, no pax.
Engine came apart after V1, aft section , aft section picked up in the desert later and brought back to the airline hotel.
Why, who knows?
But this is the correct story.
This engine had many problems for weeks on end, was not a sudden issue.
The aircraft sat in MED for many days as no one would fly it out of there due to this problem.
When some one finally flew this MED/JED Saudia and this airline Maint signed it off.
Next flight to CGK that maint approved it came apart.
This is the rest of the story, and a fact jack
