Thanks for the link - it is because of the information that is now out - here on PPRuNe, the link you've given and all the flying magazines - that I ventured out to have a look around the local clubs.
As mentioned, flying hours are not an issue for me (more so for my daughter - I can only sub her so much!) - I'm quite prepared to do at least 50% more than the "minimum" at my advanced
age, to obtain a recreational flying licence. The carry-over terms to the JAR-PPL are good enough for my daughter (16) to do the NPPL now and convert later - if she wishes to make a career of it.
I think I know which club is going to get our custom, it just takes a lot more organising...
