Can I just say thanks to the person who left this message!!!
I was a crew member who managed to take off at 10am thursday morning, possibly knowing we wouldnt get home that night as originally planned. We all had plans for the next day as we were all on days off after this particularly long there and back flight. We ended up being stuck there for 6 days!!!!!!
Yes our company looked after us amazingly well, as did the pilots we had with us. But it was not a holiday. We had no clothes, no toiletries, no sun cream, no bug repellent, no money, some of us had no way of getting any money either, some of us had no credit on our mobiles or credit ran out, batteries ran out on mobiles because we had no chargers. Everyday we kept thinking we would be going home the next day so everyday we made do with the bare minimals. We never ever expected to be there for 6 days. Some of us had children, responsibilities, holidays booked etc. We did feel truly stranded. But we made the best of a bad situation and eventually we got home!!!
So thank you for all your thoughts to those of us either lucky or unlucky enough to be stuck somewhere we weren't expecting to be!! Let's hope it doesn't happen again and this volcano stops erupting!!! LOL
