o put things in perspective for some , the starting pay in the US for First officers on 737 or A320 range from $28 an hour to $54 an hour, and roughly %15 of all pilots here are on the street, makes you think, doesn't it

Lucky thing in Oz is that the LCC's are all profitable and expanding profitably. Jetstar has upwards of 60 more aircraft on the way, Tiger has a little more than 50 coming, Virgin say they are going to replace their fleet in upwards of 100 737's and who knows with Qantas!
