Well compensated and sweating for every penny....
I did some subcontract flying for UPS 20 years ago and here are a few of my observations.
The company is a well oiled machine.
The equipment on the ramp was first class and well maintained.
The employees were highly motivated, and well paid.
The employees worked extremely hard, and the company demands nothing less.
A phrase I heard often: “UPS drivers don’t retire, they break”. If the truck drivers are earning 70K you can bet they are working for every penny.
In retrospect I wish I would have had the foresight to have applied as a pilot. UPS is an impressive organization.
