Where does it end? I mean do we have to have a major accident in this country before the Government decides to look at what a shambles this industry has become and how the beancounters are gambling with peoples lives in a high stakes operation? It'll happen and then you can watch as everyone involved tries to flee for the hills. All of these near misses have given the operators and the travelling public a false sense of security that "it'll never happen here". Has our government decided that they're going to take nothing away from the senate hearings into the aviation industry in the US? I listened to some of that stuff and it sounded disturbingly familiar. With pilots now being payed so little and working these ridiculous fatigue-prone rosters we now have to also deal with pilots from other countries under-cutting us and our conditions. We our now on a par with the taxi industry and we all know what's going on there. The difference being nobody really takes notice when a taxi ploughs into a house.
