BA News......50% reporting as normal at LHR

Saturday, March 20, 14.30 - operational update

Our operations at both Heathrow and Gatwick are continuing to go well. London City is operating as normal.

Cabin crew are continuing to report as normal at Gatwick.

At Heathrow, around 50 per cent of cabin crew have reported to work as normal and we are therefore increasing the number of longhaul and shorthaul flights in our schedule in the days ahead.

Thank you to all crew who are reporting as normal and thank you for everyone’s hard work, wherever you work in the world. This morning has gone as well as we could have expected.

Due to the strength of our operations so far today, we have decided to reinstate several Boeing 747 flights for later today and are now selling seats on them to customers who want to fly.

We are already operating a full Boeing 777 longhaul programme from the UK to more than 30 destinations around the world.

Our own short-haul operation at Heathrow and Gatwick is fulfilling its schedule, supported by our charter operators, who have integrated well.

We aim to fly as many customers as we can this weekend in the biggest contingency operation we have ever organised.

We would urge customers to keep checking on our website, Book Flights, Hotels, Holidays, Car Rental with British Airways - BA.com, to find out what extra flights will now be operating.

We will continue to send out operational updates throughout the day.
