Or maybe this just shows that they really should not be attempting to get involved in areas of the business that they don't/can't understand.
And therein lies the problem facing many trades unions in the present day. Large corporations have the ability to hire the best person for the job - as a trades union, you have to elect a member from within your community, and those elected members may be there just because, or prior reputation, for being a good bloke or for just being able to shout louder than the next guy.

In my opinion trades unions are almost at an end - unless the employee group are deemed irreplaceable or are in a fortunate position where their skills are in demand, hence in my opinion, the strength of most pilot unions throughout the world
