Desire to stay away from MIL airspace I think comes from an ingrained sense of staying away from the red bits on the maps, I still feel like I'm doing something 'wrong' when transiting East Sale.
Lol. The trick is to ignore the grumpy tone some mil ATCOs use - it's probably not meant for you (just habit from dealing with "Top Guns" all day long!) Enjoy the flight.
