There's an old saying that goes something like "the failure to plan on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part". As BigGeordie says we've all seen this coming for a while now. Anyone approached by them in desperation and tempted to fly on a day off, cancel their leave days (I'm afraid this might be coming next), or extend their notice period might want to keep this one in their mind.
Management action over the past 2 years has so totally demotivated the troops, that any of the above should be unthinkable, but I'm sure there are some who will oblige. Help them out now and they will pat themselves on the back for good man management and laugh all the way to the bank with their bonuses for driving staffing costs to extreme lows.
Time for them to reap what they have sown.
