Crash & Burn,

It's quiet because there is nothing left to say. Everything with any possible relevance to the situation has been picked up, chewed over and spat out - in many cases, more than once. All we can do now is watch and wait.

Wait for a court descision, which if it goes one way, no doubt both sides will declare victory. If it goes the other, a source from BA will confirm that they are bitterly disappointed, before invoking SOSR. Wait for a strike ballot, which will undoubtedly be a conclusive "yes" vote for a strike that will be called off the day before it's due to start, as both sides finally come to an uneasy agreement. And then we'll all trundle off into the wilderness. Until next time.

Now, fast forward to around 2050. Flapsforty and Tightslot will be sat in their respective nursing homes, maybe having a nice set and blow-dry by Janice, the mobile hairdresser. A picture of a BA tail will pop up on the TV, along with the words, BritAir cabin crew dispute. (Or whatever it's called by then.) They will sigh deeply and break open new packets of purple and jade ink, respectively. Up and down the country and in nursing homes across the world, keyboards will be dusted off and the sound of furious click clacking of keys will be heard, as us oldies try to tell the new BASSA-nette union members, why they can never win. And on it will go....

Sorry, got a bit carried away there!
