evansb, you got it - it's Port Washington, the seaplane base where the Pan Am Clipper Boing 314s made their stops during the 1930s.

The picture is from the early 1940s during WW II - the guy on the wing is my Dad. All three were Royal Norwegian Air Force out of training at Little Norway in Toronto and were preparing for a flight (classified mission) to the Panama Canal Zone. They followed the route of the Clippers and got support from Pan Am on the way.

The airplane was eventually sold to the US Navy in the Canal Zone.
