A good idea doing it through a flight school. Most good schools understand each individual students financial status and set the method for payment accordingly. There is no need to pay any money up front and you should avoid it.
Also I may be able to get support while studying from Centrelink if I go through uni.
You can still get centrelink support if doing private training through a flight school.
