Mirach Killar is correct. IIRC the plan had them turn slightly to the right after Gabad on a direct track through the Dutch Airspace. A pity nobody thought to co-ordinate it with Dutch Mil.
There were also a number of flights by the French, turning NE after HELEN. The FPL called for acceleration/climb 20n.m. after the coast. Pity nobody had thought to brief us that turning was not an option during part of this phase, and as there was a considerable amount of traffic over the N.Sea, both civil and military, the climb was unfortunately delayed until we could find a gap. I don't think we were on the crew's Christmas card list that year
